Things to note when storing kiwifruit in a fruit and vegetable fresh-keeping storage:
The suitable storage temperature for kiwifruit is around 0℃;
2. Before storing kiwifruits, it is not advisable to store too many at once. Generally, it is better to store 10%-15% of the total quantity at a time;
The temperature inside the fruit and vegetable fresh-keeping storage should not experience significant changes;
4. When kiwifruit is being taken out of storage, if the temperature outside the warehouse is too high, a buffer room should be used to gradually increase the temperature to prevent water droplets from forming on the surface of the fruit, which can lead to fruit decay.
5. The humidity in the fruit and vegetable fresh-keeping storage should be adjusted to between 90% and 98%;
6. During the storage period of kiwi fruit, the fruit and vegetable preservation warehouse should be ventilated;
Selection of refrigeration unit:
The temperature setting range for a kiwi fruit cold storage is 0~6℃. Generally, a semi-closed piston-type high-temperature refrigeration unit is chosen, which has the advantages of large refrigeration capacity, universal components, and convenient subsequent maintenance. If the cold storage unit is large, it is recommended to use a water-cooled unit; if the unit is small, an air-cooled unit can be used, but the condensation area needs to be increased; for large kiwi fruit cold storage units, it is recommended to use parallel or screw compressors.
Selection of insulation board for fruit and vegetable preservation storage:
Generally, 10cm-thick polyurethane color steel plates are used. The assembled refrigeration panels are more hygienic and aesthetically pleasing, while the refrigeration doors need to be designed according to the actual situation.
Selection of refrigeration unit
The temperature setting range for a kiwi fruit cold storage is 0~6℃. Generally, a semi-hermetic piston high-temperature refrigeration unit is chosen, which has advantages such as large refrigeration capacity, universal components, and convenient subsequent maintenance. If the cold storage unit is large, it is recommended to use a water-cooled unit; if the unit is small, an air-cooled unit can be used, but the condensation area needs to be increased; for large kiwi fruit cold storage units, it is recommended to use parallel or screw compressors.
Selection of refrigeration evaporator:
The evaporator in the fruit and vegetable preservation chamber is particularly crucial for kiwifruit. Due to the high water content of kiwifruit, it is advisable to avoid exposure to drafts. Therefore, the evaporator inside the preservation chamber should not be an air cooler, and aluminum coil tubes are recommended. The advantage of aluminum coil tubes is their fast cooling speed and absence of airflow, which minimizes the moisture loss of kiwifruit. Regarding condensed water, when we manufacture the aluminum panels, we create an integrated channel beneath the aluminum coil tubes. The water flows through this channel to the water tank and is then discharged from the chamber, preventing water droplets from condensing on the kiwifruit.
After harvesting, kiwifruits should be refrigerated, such as storing them in a cold storage for general fruits and vegetables or a more effective controlled atmosphere cold storage for fruits and vegetables, to extend the storage period and generate more considerable economic income. The refrigeration technology for kiwifruits ensures that the refrigeration temperature of kiwifruits can maintain a relative humidity of 90% to 95%, a gas composition with an O2 content of 2% to 4%, and a gas composition with a CO2 content of 5%, keeping the refrigeration temperature of kiwifruits at 0℃ ± 0.5℃. It is worth noting that ethylene gas must be avoided during the refrigeration of kiwifruits, which also determines that kiwifruits must be stored separately, especially not mixed with fruits such as bananas and apples, to avoid mutual ripening. Kiwifruits can be stored in a cold storage for fruits and vegetables for 4-6 months, with quality meeting standards. If stored in a controlled atmosphere cold storage for fruits and vegetables, the storage period can generally reach more than half a year.
